FOR PHYSICAL & EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Biodynamics (also called Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, or BCST) is a gentle form of bodywork that doesn’t push, pull, or manipulate you. Instead, the practitioner invites your own life-force to come forward, for healing and re-balancing.

BCST has been developed from osteopathy and works with the individual as a whole. It is grounded in anatomy and physiology, and also has roots in ancient Native American healing traditions.

How can it help?

Relieving stress & burnout

Stress, burnout, depression, sleep problems, moodiness, and anxiety are all rooted in an imbalance in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). When our nervous system is under too much stress for too long (in the “on” state), it can no longer find the “off” switch.

Our body pays the price! It can no longer relax, sleep, digest, or enjoy sex properly (among other things).

BCST regulates the nervous system, harmonises and strengthens it, offering profound support for physical and emotional well-being.

Healing after loss & grief

Examples of loss and grief:

  • The death of a family member
  • Divorce
  • A new job or move
  • Retirement
  • Serious illness

After every loss comes grief. Grief takes its own time. There are universal experiences of grief, which everyone can recognize to a greater or lesser extent. Yet, the grieving process is entirely individual. Loss brings change. The reality is that “what was is no more.” This can be so painful that it feels as if we are dying a little. Or as if we have lost our way.

Loss and grief can be very traumatic and can reverberate for years. That is, the events are too overwhelming to process. Our nervous system malfunctions or shuts down; we can no longer fully function. This “overwhelm” occurs in our nervous system (brain and spinal cord). Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy works directly with the nervous system.

What does a session look like?

We will have a conversation

  • about your health history
  • the intention of your visit
  • current concerns, including physical/emotional stresses you may be experiencing
  • then I will invite you for a session

Sessions are done

  • while you lie comfortably on a massage table
  • fully clothed
  • conducted with very light, still-touch contact
  • quiet and meditative in tone
  • about 45–75 minutes long

Everyone experiences BCST sessions in their own way, but generally as your nervous system shifts toward “rest-and-digest” mode, it’s common to experience slower breathing, a sense of stillness, reduced mental chatter and/or a feeling of being grounded or centered.

Costs:
First session (including intake): € 75,00
Thereafter: € 65,00 for 60–75 minutes
5-sessions card: € 250,00

Lineages

There are two main lineages of Craniosacral Therapy: Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) and standard Craniosacral Therapy (CST); they share roots but differ significantly in their approach and philosophy.

Here are some key differences:

Standard Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

Gentle manipulation / adjustments

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)

Mostly still, listening touch

Standard Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

Structural alignment & motion

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)

Inherent body rhythms & self-healing

Standard Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

Active — makes corrections

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)

Neutral — creates space for change

Standard Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

Restricted movement causes dysfunction

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)

Health expresses itself when space is given

Standard Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

Dr. John Upledger (clinical/biomechanical)

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)

Dr. William Sutherland’s deeper “biodynamic” theory

Standard Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

Release restrictions in craniosacral system

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)

Support deep regulation and whole-system balance

What people say

  • “I don’t know what you’re doing, but it feels like every fiber of my being is being touched.”
    AvH
  • My experience with craniosacral therapist Isa for my chronic fatigue

“The first few times were a bit strange, but soon my body linked Isa’s table with total relaxation. It was more rule than exception that I fell asleep within a few minutes. Somewhat embarrassing, I thought, but also about this I was mistaken. No problem!
And that something was happening with me, was very clear. The sessions weren’t only very relaxing and very enjoyable for this reason alone, but the result was that I noticed that my energy began to return after a number of sessions. After 5 years of fretting, this was a small miracle for me.”

What does a Cranio session look like?

We start with a conversation to clarify the intention of your visit. Next, I’ll invite you to lie down comfortably, fully clothed, on a table. During the session, with your permission, I’ll touch you very lightly in specific areas and attune to your entire system. This allows the fragmentation caused by trauma to become whole.

Duration:
First session: 1½ hours
Follow-up sessions: 1-1½ hours
